Windows-App: EarMuffs
EarMuffs is a small tray icon tool that turns down the volume by 1% in a certain interval until it has reached 50%.
I needed such a tool for myself as I often turn up the volume in order to enjoy good music :) But I don’t want my neighbours to turn against me so I have written this program to turn down the volume for me. You would not note volume changes because the down turn steps are too small to notice. For a normal person at least.
Please note: Windows 7 is currently not supported.
Install:
- Download
- Install
- Start EarMuffs manually via “Start > Startup > EarMuffs” or restart Windows
- EarMuffs sits in the tray icon area. Move your mouse cursor above EarMuffs’ icon to see when the volume got turned down last time.
That’s it.
Version History:
- 0.2: Initial version; fixed to 5 minutes interval
- 0.2.7: Intervals can be 1 second (for testing purposes), 3 minutes, 5 minutes; program saves current setting; show tooltip bubble on startup and setting change; shows last and next scheduled volume change; does not bail out with an exception on systems other than Windows Vista x86; proper icon :)
Uses CoreAudioApi by Ray Molenkamp. The rather boring EarMuffs source can by obtained via email.
